Setting alarms
The derived channel functionality can also be used to set alarms to warn the user that a
certain function or data value has reached a certain predefined value or when Boolean logic
function is set to false. The output of the derived channel needs to be of logical type to set an
alarm.
Let us set an alarm if the pressure drops below 8600 psia.
Press on
to get access to the ‘Derived channel definition’ dialog, and name the channel
as ‘Lower than 8600’ and type in the formula box: if (a<8600, 1, 0).
Press on
to display the list of the formula parameters:
‘a’ is the pressure channel values, specify it by pressing on
