Units Reference#
A unit belongs to one or more measures and carries the coefficients that convert a value
expressed in that unit to and from the internal unit of the measure. The SDK exposes the units as
kappa_sdk.UnitEnum values.
Conversion coefficients#
Every unit publishes two coefficients, a and b, and an isNonLinear flag, which
kappa_sdk.UnitConverter applies as follows:

The internal unit of a measure is therefore the one with a = 1 and b = 0: converting it is a no-op.
Units with a non-zero b are offset units – psig (b = 101325) is gauge pressure, °C
(b = 273.15) is an absolute temperature – which is why delta measures come with their own offset-free
units.
API gravity (UnitEnum.gravity_api, a = 141.5, b = 131.5) is the only non-linear unit of the
catalog.
Converting a value#
Read the coefficients through kappa_sdk.UnitConverter rather than hard-coding them, since a
KAPPA-Automate instance may publish a different catalog:

Available units#
The table below lists every unit of a stock KAPPA-Automate catalog, grouped by the measure that accepts it. A
unit shared by several measures appears once per measure, since the UnitEnum member to use may differ
(Temperature takes UnitEnum.temp_celsius_deg, DeltaTemperature takes
UnitEnum.delta_temp_celsius_deg, both displayed as °C).
Unit is the symbol shown by KAPPA-Automate, Description its long name.
Unit id is the identifier used by the REST API, and the value behind the
UnitEnummember.a, b and Non-linear are the conversion coefficients described above.
